   President’s Week is over here at the Resort. It’s been a fantastic snow week. I heard some crazy stuff from WA Staters. TDS is indeed terminal. I can’t tell you how many wish to move to Canada, BC in particular. Some have properties here from before the Foreign Buyer’s Ban a few years ago. When they spout off about healthcare being better in BC, they are talking out their asses. “Oh it’s free!”. No, somebody pays for it if one can even access a GP. I haven’t had a GP for 6 months.

   I just ask questions. We are living in crazy times.

   On the flip side I have met many International travellers who are 100% on our side. They all admit that they self censor as to not be called Islamophobic. They know exactly what is happening and why. I am skiing with some Normies from Down Under who get an earful from these random characters. They are coming around and realize that Aussie Digger and I are not some crazy old guys.

   GMG is checking out Isle of Man in April. Lots of research in advance. Winding down my financial affairs over the next year.
   If Canada lifts the Foreign Buyer Ban Jan 2027, I may get a Blue stater to purchase my home. Primo on-slope location with lift access above the Village core. There must be a huge backlog of crazies ready to jump into the fire that is BC.

   Where to go is a real dilemma. Would like a second foothold in the Global South that is not too hot or experiencing major unrest and influence from the WEFers. I have so few close Friends or Family so connections will not be severed (thanks to the Scamdemic). There is no perfect place. Luckily I have health and fitness and have a don’t give a fuck mentality.

           Banff, Lake Louise is now jammed full of Muslim tourists. Carney gave the immigrants FREE federal park passes and now they throw shit everywhere and traffic chaos. Parks Canada national parks, historic sites, and marine conservation areas help tell the stories of who we are as Canadians and constitute some of Canada’s most treasured cultural, historic, and natural places.

           The Institute for Canadian Citizenship (ICC) began working with Parks Canada in 2012 to offer new Canadian citizens free admission to all Parks Canada sites across the country through the Cultural Access Pass (CAP) program. The CAP program provides new Canadian citizens in their first year of citizenship free admission to more than 1400 cultural spaces across the country, including museums, art galleries, science centres, and parks.            Oh. Banff. I thought you meant like…Lloydminster or Grande Prairie or Tabor.
           Well, here’s the thing: believe it or not, I much prefer overcast weather to sun. And not too hot, not too cold. Unlike many, I do not mind the rain. AB is known for plenty of sunshine but brutally cold and dry (air) winters.
           Many have sung the praises of Mexico and other S American locales. Not my cup of tea, as I strenuously dislike hot sunny weather. To each his own.

           By no means do I think Vancouver is wonderful. I acknowledge it has a lot of problems and yes, I do get frustrated at times. However, I’m a city person. We have lived on acreage in the countryside of Ontario, and since 2010 have had the house at a ski resort. Both places were/are an hour from any amenities such as decent grocery stores, health care, swimming pools, ice rinks, cultural performances etc.
           It works for Columbia. I hate it. Hence, the small rental apartment in Vancouver that we have leased since 2020. If one values solitude, gardening etc then great, rural life works.

           This is going to sound crazy, but when I drive into Vancouver I just….feel this energy…and I’m happy to be here. There are those who pull into their driveways in a small town or out in the country and give a sigh of relief. They derive positive energy from this, and that’s great. I’m the same way in a city.

   If you go someplace like Isle of Man as a base and want a warmer secondary place for winter, try taking an extended cruise to warmer climes for a month or two. Might be pricey but gives you time to check out possible locations for a winter place.

   Neither Bogota nor Quito are “hot”.

   Not suggesting either due to local politics, but the South does include cold places.

   In N.Amer, try Flagstaff or Bend. Both have winter skiing.

     My criteria is to live outside the Tropics (Cancer and Capricorn). Not to live between those latitudes.
