Remember the USS Liberty!
The USS Liberty incident was an attack on a United States Navy technical research ship, USS Liberty, by Israeli Air Force jet fighter aircraft and Israeli Navy motor torpedo boats, on 8 June 1967. The combined air and sea attack killed 34 crew members, wounded 171 crew members, and severely damaged the ship. At the time, the ship was in international waters. -Wikipedia
There is lots to remember. How about Benghazi? Or Blackhawk down? How about the Jan 6 protestors who are still in solitary confinement, still no attorney, still no trial date?
Perhaps if the department of defense stayed focused on defense instead of war, these incidents would not happen. Perhaps if we didn’t think we run the world, there would be no such incidents. Perhaps if we minded our own business, these incidents wouldn’t happen.
What are we doing with 200+ bases overseas, warships and support running all around the world, seeking trouble, seeking mischief, telling others what to do?????
Yes, indeed… too much to remember and probably much more that few people know about.
I share your sentiments. My understanding is that there are at least 750 U.S. military bases around the world.
I had three uncles (all brothers) who served in the U.S. Navy for many years during the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s.
