Pushing 100 ?
Just Got a call from my Incredible 100 Year Old Aunt Anna.
Wishing me a Happy Birthday (the big 7 0)
She is the last one of 11 ( which included my dad ..who made it to 98 )
incredible GAL
I asked how she was…and she’s said just fine except for ” a little” shingles for the last 6 months.
preceded by a surgical cancer removal last year…but otherwise just great.
What a spirit..I just had to share it.
She is 100% Mentally the same as I have always know her..Follows all the local sports teams knows all the players
Lives in her own place…just an inspirational human being…always looks at only the bright side (not a goldbug)
A Nurse in her younger years in including of course ww2. And remembers everybody’s names and birthday’s and jobs and everything in this very large family.
Best call I have had in forever. π
And speaking of Pushing 100 ( Anna is already pushing 101)
So is the Dollar….new 2.5 year highs. Note: Some people like to “call” FBO every time something they don’t expect happens to break the “wrong” way…but they are rare…
However this is a prime example of what one looks like….should be in a text book .
If every BO was an FBO there would be NO TA …eh ?
When Anna was born in 1919 …one of the most heard of sayings was… if something could be counted on it was “Sound as a Dollar”
Well she still is !…She said to me just now…My mind is appreciating every year but my body is devaluing π
Happy Birthday, Fully. You’ll be running this place for at least another thirty years or so.
Very nice indeed and happy birthday! All my grandparents, no longer with us, were born in 1919. What a generation of great people!
Yeah, happy B day Fully!
Consider yourself very fortunate to have known your grandparents.
On my dad’s side, not even my mom ever MET them, never mind got to know either one.
On my mom’s side, I only met them as a toddler (which I don’t remember at all). Then we emigrated away. They both died before I ever returned.
On my stepdad’s side, his dad died before my mom’s second marriage (two widowers at the time).
I did meet his mom a few times on spring trips to FL.
“grandparents … were born in 1919. What a generation of great people!” I’m older, so those were my parents, aunts, uncles. Just learned A LOT more about them, as the older ones all got involved in the Dutch resistance during the war, and were recognized for their efforts afterwords. By the way, it was Canadian forces that liberated Holland in my family’s neck of the woods. Several books were written about the risks taken by my mom’s family and her neighbors, and the tragedies that befell some of them back then.
Wow pedro. That’s great stuff ,
At some point we have to take stock of how we came to be what we have come to be.
And how fortunate most of us in the western world have been to live in a relatively save secure and prosperous place and time.
Celebrate the Great generation before they are all gone.
Those Canadians and Dutch and others were real heros. What a time…we have no idea
Happy septuagenarian anniversary. Have you asked Aunt Anna what her secret of longevity is (e.g., eating lots of bacon, or shots of whiskey, etc.)? Please share it with the poor and aging goldbugs who frequent this site.
Thanks man….I can’t spell that word but I are one ? π
She doesn’t drink or smoke but doesn’t mind if you do .
That’s how she weeded out most of the competition π
She is certainly not a puritan…just wasn’t her thing.
I have observed the many who have made it to 90s in my life and it’s ALL about staying interested in life and finding things to figure out that interest you ( Like Gold)..as long as you physical faculties allow it.
So go have a shot or a dube and keep contributing to the Tent and you will make it
π
Happy Birthday Fully I turned 70 15 days ago… love must have been in the air in the spring of 1950.
Same to you my Hawaiian friend.
Spring of 49 π
That’s why they call us Boomers…end of the war makes people horny

Happy B-Day Fully! Going on 70 myself.
Yes, how damn lucky are we to have such worry over the price of gold and not where our next meal is coming from?
Great story about your Aunt!
I’ve never forgotten a great ant of mine, Aunt Alice, that was running up the stairs at 85.
Happy 70th, Fully… just a youngster! May you have 30 more years of good times!
Most of my large family lived into their 90s too, and my Aunts lived by the motto of ‘Keep Moving’.
‘Life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting “Holy Shit… What a Ride!” ‘
Plenty of longevity in my family — also attachment to gold in the extended family in the past. It is anything but good study with good statistics here, having just a few comments here from a few people, but I had to think of an article I skimmed in recent months about a study of life-long characteristics of people who live extremely long times.
They reportedly often are active, they often are independent — and they often are **stubborn**.
Whether it’s genetics, family culture, or a combination, I wonder whether many of us come from families where these traits are common.
Happy birthday Fully. As you say, an amazing generation who’ve seen so much in their lives. I wish I knew the secret to longevity – I guess it’s a mix of genetics and how you lead your life. Warmest wishes to your Aunt π
Happy Bithday Fully!:-)
to age well I think that we need to eat little, don’t smoke, have interests (mine is music), do some sports and have a good connection with nature and hope for a good genetics of course.
Thank you again for your site, let’s hope it will guide all of us into the next chapter of gold bull market (let’s hope it is a bull market for real..)
Happy 70th Fully, and may you enjoy health and with the coming gold rush, untold wealth into your 100’s! And thanks for running this site – best TA on the net!
