I think the HUI should be double the price it is based on 2009 data. That’s not including stuff like NIRP, ZIRP, massive government debt, etc.
In 2016, miners have streamlined their operation and are generating decent cashflow. Projects will not be brought on stream unless gold goes much higher.
In 2009, miners were operating inefficiently and marginal projects were being developed.
At the bottom in 2008, HUI/Gold was .21, same as at the top on Aug 4, 2016.
Precious metals mining companies are a much smarter investment today, at these prices, than they were even at the botton of 2008 IMO.
