Pharmaceutical giant being sued in class action over claims its vaccine caused death and serious injury in dozens of cases

AstraZeneca has admitted for the first time in court documents that its Covid vaccine can cause a rare side effect, in an apparent about-turn that could pave the way for a multi-million pound legal payout. The pharmaceutical giant is being sued in a class action over claims that its vaccine, developed with the University of Oxford, caused death and serious injury in dozens of cases.

Lawyers argue the vaccine produced a side effect which has had a devastating effect on a small number of families.

The USDA this month approved a biotech firm’s plan to genetically engineer soybeans to produce a “plant-grown” meat protein the company calls Piggy Sooy. The company called it the next “revolution” in food biotech, but critics warned it’s “a dangerous experiment” destined to flop.

Moolec’s patented technology — which the company calls molecular farming — splices pig genes into a conventional soybean. The resulting soybeans are a pink fleshy color inside and the company claims they contain 26.6% animal protein.

“To reduce the complexities of porcine meat into a single protein (myosin) which is the only pork protein produced by the Franken-beans is completely myopic. This is not a pork replacement, it is a recombinant myosin production factory.

“Consumers would therefore be eating a novel substance requiring extensive testing and would require something far beyond what FDA [U.S. Food and Drug Administration] does routinely for GM [genetically modified] food.”

Farmed poultry and wild birds in the US have been falling victim to highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses since the end of 2021, but recently it has begun spilling over into cows and other mammals.

Researchers did find, however, that this dolphin’s particular H5N1 strain had genetic changes that made it 18 times more resistant to one of the antiviral drugs used to treat bird flu.

Two weeks ago, 18 US states quarantined cattle after reports of bird flu among the animals.

Now that Bitcoin has worldwide acceptance, why not introduce Bitgold.
Nick Szabo came up with the idea for Bit Gold prior to Bitcoin. It still involved “mining” but not for actual Gold.

What if there was a secure central depository of audited non-hypothecated Gold on a blockchain. One could present their Bitgold wallet with the appropriate security features for loading on a Worldwide debt card like “WISE” in the local currency. Could be completed online or go to a secure Branch for picking up local currency. DeFi.

If the internet goes down you would have the same concerns as Bitcoin.
It would be the same as carrying a few gold coins but could not be stolen physically.

I like Gold in my possession but for travelling this may be an option.

The other possibility is to purchase Bitgold before you leave your country and when you reach your destination redeem for actual physical gold at a secure branch. No border to cross.

Without commenting on which company is extremely successful and which one used to be, here is a timely and interesting pairs trade in the semi space. My reading of the charts, suggests NVDA’s bounce ends today with a likely revist to it’s bounce highs either tomorrow or Wed.

One could short NVDA (either directly or using options) and go long INTC, again either with the equity and or options. I fully expect that at least for weeks and more likely months, NVDA will trade substantially lower, while INTC in the low thirties, is a long term buy, at least for a two to three year turnaround.

An additional factor, that while a longshot, is not totally unlikely, is that NVDA actually decides to BUY INTC for something like $70 per share. While against most large mergers, this administration has gone out of it’s way to support semis and particularly to subsidize building chip plants in the US.

It wouldn’t be a stretch to see them support such a deal, since NVDA and many other non fab chip companies, have most if not all of their chips manufactured in Taiwan. (This is not investment advice, just my opinion.)

Here is a possible entrepenurial idea for one of you younger Tenters. To avoid confiscation of bullion coins and or bars when traveling, here is a suggestion for someone so inclined.

If one takes more than a few silver coins(at least right now while silver is still cheap) you are likely to have any amount of gold or large amount of silver, confiscated by TSA and or customs, if going internationally.

This is also a possibility, if for any reason you are pulled over by law enforcement in a car. Civil asset seizure has become big business for local LEO’s to steal cash (bullion) from law abiding citizens who get pulled over for either legitimate and or trumped up reasons.

To greatly minimize the chances of this, if one has small jewelry chains of either gold or silver worn on their person, they are less likely to be seized. The key is to have small size chains with small removeable links, that one can use as currency to barter etc.

An entrenurial minded person could have a nice business making and selling small jewelry chains with easy to remove links of gold and or silver.(suggest say, 31 one gram links, giving you approx. 1 oz of bullion.) I can see a growing need and desire for just such a product in the years to come.
