2 NIH Researchers Indicted for Smuggling Mpox DNA Samples into U.S.
Vincent Munster and Claude Kwe Yinda were charged in an indictment filed Aug. 20 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Both face a conspiracy charge alleging they smuggled biological materials, including deactivated mpox virus samples, into the U.S. from Africa. They are also charged with making false statements to U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers.
