In 1967 I was making $1.75\/hr as a sheet metal modelmaker apprentice. I had a new car payment, a rent payment, and I had two kids with no insurance for their birth. Wife not working.<\/p>\n
At $87,460 it comes to $1,681 per week. That means today, with that low income, (because of all the imports) you can’t afford a one bedroom rental, a new car payment, or two kids and have no medical insurance and wife not working.<\/p>\n
My wife Peg used to say….”The bigger the explanation, the bigger the lie”. (Think about all those long mining reports too, I never read them)<\/p>\n
In todays tiny little valued US dollars, to possibly match my old $1.75\/hr minimum wage should be $55\/hr meaning $2200\/week, and you might be able to rent a one bedroom apartment for $2200\/month.
