The United States, Iran and Oman are nearing an interim agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, with Washington aiming to announce a deal as early as Wednesday, Axios reported on Tuesday, citing two regional sources and a US official.<\/p>\n
The proposed 60-day arrangement would route inbound commercial shipping through Iranian waters and outbound traffic through Omani waters in coordination with Iran, while prohibiting tolls or transit fees during the interim period, according to the report.<\/p>\n
According to Axios, the agreement is intended to reinforce the ceasefire between Washington and Tehran and create space for renewed negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program after weeks of mediation involving Oman, Qatar, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n
