\n This change in tone comes after President Donald Trump warned Rodr\u00edguez that she could face a “very big price” if she does not comply with U.S. demands, even suggesting her consequences could be worse than those faced by Maduro.<\/p>\n
\nTrump, speaking on Air Force One, emphasized that the U.S. needs “total access” to Venezuela\u2019s oil and other resources to rebuild the country, and reiterated his warning to Rodr\u00edguez that non-compliance would result in severe consequences.
\nDespite her current overture, Rodr\u00edguez had previously condemned the U.S. operation in a televised address, vowing that Venezuela “will never return to being the colony of another empire”.
