\nNow that a court has ordered the release of COVID-19 vaccine trials, most voters suspect there\u2019s been a cover-up.<\/p>\n
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 62% of Likely U.S. Voters believe it is likely that federal officials were engaged in covering up potentially harmful side effects of COVID-19 vaccines, including 39% who think it\u2019s Very Likely. Twenty-eight percent (28%) don\u2019t consider a cover-up likely, and another 10% are not sure. (To see survey question wording, click here.)<\/p>\n
Last week, a federal judge ordered the Food and Drug Administration to release previously hidden COVID-19 vaccine clinical trials data. Seventy-one percent (71%) of voters say this data should have been made public before the vaccine was recommended to the public. Just 15% disagree and 14% are not sure.<\/p>\n
The survey of 1,230 U.S. Likely Voters was conducted on December 9-11, 2024 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +\/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.<\/p>\n
Aides to President Joe Biden have suggested he may issue a preemptive pardon to Dr. Anthony Fauci \u201cwho became a lightning rod for criticism\u201d of the administration\u2019s COVID-19 policies. Forty-five percent (45%) of voters would approve of Biden pardoning Fauci, while 43% would disapprove of such a pardon. Eleven percent (11%) are not sure.<\/p>\n
While 67% of Democrats would approve of a pardon for Fauci, 68% of Republicans would disapprove. Among voters not affiliated with either major party, 41% would approve Biden pardoning Fauci and 46% would disapprove, with 11% undecided.<\/p>\n
Majorities of every political category \u2013 81% of Republicans, 61% of Democrats and 71% of unaffiliated voters \u2013 agree that data about COVID-19 vaccine clinical trials should have been made public before the vaccine was recommended to the public.<\/p>\n
Eighty percent (80%) of Republicans believe it\u2019s at least somewhat likely that federal officials were engaged in covering up potentially harmful side effects of COVID-19 vaccines, as do 44% of Democrats and 60% of unaffiliated voters.<\/p>\n
There isn\u2019t much of a \u201cgender gap\u201d on these questions, except that women voters (46%) are slightly more likely than men (43%) to approve of a presidential pardon for Fauci.<\/p>\n
Majorities of every racial category \u2013 60% of whites, 62% of black voters, 72% of Hispanics and 62% of other minorities \u2013 consider it at least somewhat likely that federal officials covered up harmful side effects of COVID-19 vaccines.<\/p>\n
Breaking down the electorate by income categories, voters in the top bracket \u2013 earning more than $200,000 a year \u2013 are most likely to approve of Biden issuing a preemptive pardon for Fauci.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
