Pinning down colon cancer\u2019s genetic or environmental causes has been a complex and long-running quest, but a new study in\u00a0Nature<\/i><\/a>\u00a0points to a promising clue: a bacterium typically found in the human mouth. The study found that a specific subtype, or clade, within a subspecies of\u00a0Fusobacterium nucleatum\u00a0<\/i>was linked to colon cancer growth and progression.
