TRUMPIANS LIKE TO SAY DESANTIS IS DEEP STATE CONTROLLED…BUT…DOESN’T LOOK LIKE IT…DOES IT ?<\/p>\n
Earlier this week, Real Clear Politics ran a story headlined, \u201cEXCLUSIVE: The DeSantis Plan To Wage War on \u2018Weaponized\u2019 DOJ.\u201d<\/p>\n
The article reported Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has been working for months on plans to tear down and rebuild both the Department of Justice and the FBI, consulting with experts and members of Congress to develop a \u201cDay One\u201d strategy for de-weaponizing the justice system.<\/p>\n
Apparently Governor DeSantis has recognized the importance of the Sisyphean job of presenting a coherent, believable plan for how the criminal syndicate inside the U.S government can be brought to heel, if not completely surgically exised. The Governor is consulting with experts, such as Steven Bradbury of the Heritage Foundation and Victor Davis Hanson of the Hoover Institution, among others.<\/p>\n
According to Real Clear Politics, the Governor has privately told his advisors he plans to hire and fire large numbers of federal personnel, reorganize entire agencies, and execute a \u201cdisciplined\u201d and \u201crelentless\u201d strategy to restore the Justice Department to a mission more in line with what the \u201cFounding Fathers envisioned.\u201d<\/p>\n
The article said that DeSantis has assembled a \u201cbrain trust of academics, members of Congress, and former administration officials\u201d to design step-by-step blueprints for tearing the dysfunctional DOJ and FBI down and then building them back up again properly.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s not just a random idea floating around in the Governor\u2019s head:<\/p>\n
There have been regular conference calls, detailed memos, and at least one policy retreat in Tallahassee earlier this year. The work is ongoing because their enemy, the so-called \u201cdeep state,\u201d is vast. Their aim is nothing short of crippling it once and for all. A key feature of the emerging plan: Move fast. Don\u2019t wait on Congress.
\nExamples offered in the article include: relocating FBI headquarters out of Washington DC, eliminating and consolidating the agency\u2019s general counsel, public affairs, and government relations offices with existing divisions in the DOJ, and \u201cbeefing up\u201d the field offices over headquarters.<\/p>\n
This is a critical issue, fraught with potential political pitfalls. I commend the Governor for taking it on. It reminds me of how, during the pandemic, Governor DeSantis repeatedly assembled panels of heterodox experts to advise him on covid policy, allowing him to circumnavigate media\u2019s political \u201cnot following the science\u201d icebergs.<\/p>\n
During the pandemic, DeSantis was the only governor who saw a way to snake through the deep state\u2019s bureaucracy \u2014 and best of all, it was effective. I\u2019m glad he\u2019s now tackling disassembling the Deep State, and that he\u2019s not hiding the details until he gets elected.<\/p>\n
Let\u2019s get a plan out there!<\/p>\n
