There are so many small Countries in that Area ..each representing a different Ethnic and sometimes Religious Group<\/p>\n
They were ALL created in the 90s as a result of the Violent Wars that tore apart the Former Yugoslavia<\/p>\n
Looks like NOT everyone in these small Countries were happy with the border lines that were drawn.<\/p>\n
Each Country has an unhappy minority who want to flip to their neighboring Country where their ethnic \/ religious allegiance lies.<\/p>\n
AND it looks like the EU supports Each Country as they ARE while Russia Supports the break Away Factions which are making more noise and getting more aggressive since Russia is winning in Ukraine<\/p>\n
Could be a half dozen mini civil wars in this region.<\/p>\n
