I just had a patient …my age…71…come in
\nAlways seems like a reasonable guy…retired engineer.<\/p>\n
He sat in the chair with an N95 mask AND a surgical mask covering his face
\nbut he has a long beard with his filthy grey hair poking out in every direction..LOOKED ridiculous and I said so ( he has always like to tease and joke around)<\/p>\n
Note I do not promote my views to my patients . ( My Staff know)<\/p>\n
So the guy won’t take off his masks until we are “ready”
\nTries to tell me about his toothache …but I can’t hear him
\nHe very reluctantly demasks and I ask him did you expect me to diagnose you with the mask on ?<\/p>\n
He said this was the first time in 18 months he has left his house .
\nThen he sneezes and panics and says oh so sorry…he was almost devestated…but then he said I am OK…don’t worry I am vaccinated twice.<\/p>\n
Then he asked If I am vaccinated…i said NO…He said OH…YOU ARE ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE !<\/p>\n
I said …I had covid already and natural immunity has been proven to be robust<\/p>\n
He said how can we be sure about anything .
\nI said we could never be sure about anything before all this …but one thing is for sure…you are terrified of the air and I am Not !<\/p>\n
So any how he had been in severe pain for months with an abscessed tooth.
\nI extracted it and he quickly placed his 2 masks back on and literally ran .<\/p>\n
I have lost faith guys.<\/p>\n
However…update…<\/p>\n
Next guy comes in for a check up<\/p>\n
He has been a patient for 40 years. He was an actor in that film..”Children of a Lesser God”<\/p>\n
What a guy..always cheerful and easy going <\/p>\n
Lost his hearing at age 6 but speaks perfectly…and he has always amazed me because he reads lips so well you would not know he was deaf.<\/p>\n
So I started talking to him thru the mask and he doesn’t respond<\/p>\n
I took it off and we had a long talk and he thanked me profusely for doing so<\/p>\n
It is hell for this guy out there as he has no idea what anyone is saying or even if they are saying it.<\/p>\n
