If “taking control of our energy security” is an acronym for “destroying it” — this policy might just accomplish Labour Government objectives! Nothing quite screams “security” as ensuring that self sufficiency is destroyed as energy resources can only be acquired from 3rd party international suppliers.
In January 2023, British Labour Party leader, Keir Starmer, was asked by a journalist to choose between “Davos” (i.e. the World Economic Forum) and “Westminster” (i.e. the British Parliament), to which Starmer replied with “Davos”: “Westminster is too constrained. It’s closed, we’re not having meaning. Once you get out of Westminster, whether it’s Davos or anywhere else, you actually engage with people that you can see working with in the future.
