Selection of 10 Silver Miners to invest in
I am all about Precious Metal miners. Not interested in Bitcoin or AI or any other investments.
Secondly I am into more specifically Silver miners (Gold on steroids).
Thirdly, I am incredibly busy and lazy at research and analysis.
Last year i decided to summarize the holdings of 3 major Silver Mining ETF’s; SIL, SILJ and SLVR.
I compared them to each other and I identified miners that were held in all three. I dropped Major size miners.
I made a list of Juniors and I also wanted to ‘mostly’ avoid non producing explorations.
I have uploaded my excel which contains all my data.
I figure if its good enough for the three ETF’s (or at least 2 out of 3) it is good enough for me because they have all the resources, know how and time to select the best miners.
I ended up picking out 10 favorites and all trade in CAD.
They are: (In all 3 ETF’s) – GSVR, ABRA, USA, AAG, GGD, APM
(In 2 out of 3 ETF’s) – DSV, SLVR,BRC, SVRS,
All CND, all Silver, all juniors, all picked by ETF’s
One Jr producer that I did not pick was AYA because rumors about them salting results appeared. True or NOT, I stayed away. Also Dolly Varden I am on the fence, it is an explorer with lots of upside.
If anyone has any comments (Positive, not Positive, or Constructive) I will welcome your thoughts.
Cheers.
PS – These charts were based on 2025 holdings… I have not updated for 2026.
PS2 – I also hold a lot of my investments in the SILJ ETF and SLVR (Sprott) ETF
ASM….. avino….
I think I own them all except ABRA, but have exposure from SIL and SILJ.
All good names and as long as we are in a bullmarket in PM’s, buy on the dips and one should do well.
Sir Kestrel – I agree , I missed Avino. Thank you
Sir AgentSilver 🙂 – agreed, tide is rising … i have my dingy out there.
THANKS FOR SHARIN SIR WALNUT…IMPRESSIVE RESEARCH
OK Since you solicited comments here goes… Comments made not in the spirit of criticism but of education:
#1 “I figure if its good enough for the three ETF’s (or at least 2 out of 3) it is good enough for me because they have all the resources, know how and time to select the best miners.” WOW, this statement is about as wrong as any could possibly be. ETF construction is about as brainless as can be. It has about as little to do with future performance as can be. It is based on metrics that have little to do with how well it will do going forward.
#2. AYASF has salted samples…. Come on man, consider the source. This was made by Blue Orca, the sleazy hedge fund that’s short the stock and is desperate to get out from under their buried position.
#3 ABRA.. won’t see production until after the next bear market. This is what you are trying to avoid isn’t it? Non-producing. What’s the plan going forward?
#4 Dolly Varden is no longer Dolly Varden. It is Contango and it is now a producer. It is a great little know opportunity.
I recommend determining how many companies one wants to hold in each category and choosing the ones that most fit your objectives.
Sir Fullgoldcrown, glad that you enjoyed the info.
Sir Plunger, I much appreciate the time that you took to review.
With your experience it is very valuable to me.
RE AYA – I had looked into past Blue Orca whistle blowing claims and in all cases the stocks plummeted.
I don’t know much about AYA but I know there are many others without this dark cloud, so I am staying away.
RE Abra- great info and something to consider closely.
Re Dolly – I will reconsider this one. Possibly switch with ABRA
RE ETFs – I can say that SLVR ETF is managed by Sprott which I hold in the highest regard.
The others are just ETF that are well established names that I used.
I will take your comments under advisement.
Again a big thanks for your thoughts.
Cheers to all
Rob
The Sprott ETFs do operate under a different procedure. So that’s a good one. Other ETFs just represent the industry.
AYA- It’s not a dark cloud. Everyone knows this story was a manufactured. All it did was provide a buying opportunity. It’s an old story.
Different subject: FYI 2027 will be the year of the silver stocks. They really take off after the stock market deflates and gold passes its previous high of 5600. So it’s still going to require patience
