could be coming to a grocery store near you. Whether you’re receptive to the technology or not, you may be none the wiser from looking at the package. Health Canada has made moves to lift restrictions on meat from cloned cattle and pigs, no longer considering it a “novel food,” meaning it could be commercialized without notification or labelling.

Thankfully we buy all our beef at farmers markets direct from producer, same with fish, eggs, and I’ll have to secure a poultry source too (already have one for turkey actually)

Get to know your local farmers and producers. It’s possible to do this, even if you live in a city. And the great thing is, most of these farmers are “one of us” so you can actually have an intelligent conversation with them.

Glad you know where to buy real food. Bet there is very little nutrition in these frankenfoods. Lab made protein. I hear the texture is on par with tofu. Nothing like bitting into a juicy Black Angus steak.
An experience I recently had with what I suspect was synthetic meat.
Ordered from Pei Wei bowl of fried rice with chicken – San Antonio Texas last week. What was served as chunks of ‘chicken’ appeared as would a center section of white breast, however the muscle structure ‘grain’ was weird and there was no variance in texture or look (different parts of a breast have slightly diff’t texture and look as it gets close to the bone). The taste was ‘chickenish’ but the look of it was creepy to say the least – ate the rice and tossed the ‘meat’. Point of this comment is that FAST FOOD chains may well be serving up synthetic meat to the public with NO DISCLOSURE.
If we stop buying from the Fast Food chains that are foisting this product on unsuspected customers, they will quickly change back or loose mkt share and death to their share price. If you can buy a car fridge/freezer (an ARB product) and take known food from home, it’s not only a known product, healthier but cheaper too. For hot meals we have thermo containers for soup, chilli and more. On the road we eat at rest stops.
Don’t trust restaurants.
