What Is Going On With Hecla?
Sorry for the strange post, but HL is going crazy. I’m glad since it is my largest holding, but I’ve put a trailing stop loss of 9% on part of it. The chart looks ridiculous. Maybe Chartmaster has some ideas. Going all the way back to before 1970, it reached over $40 and has declined ever since. It’s been range bound for 25 years. If this is on the cusp of a breakout to all time highs, it would be amazing. Is it possible given the fundamentals? Are we going to experience another dot.com style melt up but with miners where valuations mean nothing, but sentiment goes insane?
The simple answer to All of your questions is YES. As I explained recently in my post about the change in fundamentals, the change in management and the positive chart set up at the time. Here is the crazy part. I started drafting a post last week that I didn’t get around to finishing titled, The One Stock. I was going to say that if someone could only own ONE stock for the rest of 25 and most of 26, it should be Hecla Mining! If silver just goes to and through $50 like most expect, HL will go up 3,4,5 times it’s current price. If on the other hand silver does the moonshot that some of us expect, it will be closer to a ten bagger. That isn’t even considering the possibility of a gold revaluation as Hecla is a balanced gold and silver company. I am sorry I didn’t make that post last week, as maybe a few more would have gotten in and or added to their positions. It isn’t too late but one needs to wait for those quick pullbacks like yesterday morning. They will most often be quick and not very deep because this is THE BEST STOCK for 25-26.
The sentiment for this stock was mediocre at best for the longest time. It seemed none of the “experts” thought is was a great buy. Everyone was saying to wait for a big dip. And even then, it wasn’t low enough and seemed to drop off the radar. I bought it based on some of my own researched spurred on by your bullishness. Even then, it seemed like an outlier, something boring, certainly not explosive. I’m sure this moonshot took many by surprise which is why many are rushing in. FOMO had destroyed my retirement, but I’m hoping with being wiser, less impulsive, and being somewhat disciplined, I’ll gain back some at least of those losses during the terrible drop in miners in previous years and maybe come out ahead. It’s a very special time I’ve waited many years for. At my age it will never happen again. Bless everyone here and Chartmaster. What will be will be. Either way, I’ve had a good life, but retirement would be greatly appreciated.
I’m in a similar boat, Sir Marcus. Lost a bundle but managed to spend a bundle while times were good. I’ve adjusted our lifestyle accordingly although physical challenges for my wife forced some of that. Good thing we changed 5 years ago, we’d be in some serious trouble today.
I basically had to start all over with a few hundred smackers and a decently thought-out plan. Doing ok so far – actually, doing great in percentage terms. Missed HL move (I’ll always blame Chartsmaster so there’s that!) But as he says, not too late but Johnny be nimble, Johnny be quick! There are plenty of other fish to fry. I really got carried away in 2016 when Plunger called the bottom and I piled into all those penny stocks. Made a quick fortune and then lost a quick fortune all within the same year. These precious metal stocks will do that to you, especially when powered by greed.
Now I’m powered by survival. No way my income is gonna keep up with inflation. At some point I’m gonna have to sell for cash to stay afloat, of that I am sure. Meanwhile, today I got my first 5 bagger – turned $300 into $1200. And the party is just beginning. Some stellar stocks out there getting ready to rock & roll. Bit by bit, inch by inch, a few hundred bucks at a time the PF is growing. I find that if I stay true to my plan, things work well. When I wander I get killed. The value of a plan that works.
Hoping the best for you in this melt-up. At our respective age retirement is a just reward for all the shit we’ve been through!
Nice Chart. I like Hecla. Will buy after the next pullback.
Beautifully said!
