The WEF, EU and NATO are just extensions of the Nazi ideology. The City of London, the Crown and interests in the US may have been in on the whole WWII episode at odds to the British and Allied Nations.
If I was leading Russia I would have strongly objected to the Eastward expansion of the Nazis /NATO long before it got to this point.
