In the background of our political dynamic the Republican apparatus is already having conversations about what comes next, after the abhorred MAGA infection identified as President Trump is removed.
When we ask ourselves why President Trump’s agenda hasn’t been codified by congressional action, the honest answer is, because the MAGA policy is not supported by the Republicans in congress. Nothing about this dynamic is likely to change. The professional republican politicians are simply wearing masks right now, and there are certain times when those masks slip.

Washington DC, opposition to President Trump is economically and financially based. This is not about ideology; this is about money. There are trillions at stake. K-Street exists for a reason, to bribe and influence the politicians. President Trump does not benefit K-Street, he is focused on Main Street and that is the core of the opposition.
I tend to agree with your take, although I think Trump has more congressional support now than in his first term. Nevertheless, his power comes from his broad support in the mainstream of the Republican base. That support eliminated any possible contender for the nomination that was Trump’s from the start of the campaign. That being said, Trump will lose that undergirding should he not advance policies the base supports. Musk’s DOGE was a godsend for Trump. His pathetic “mediation” of the Ukraine mess is a serious blunder, and the lack of action on deep state corruption, the clot shot scandal and judicial skullduggery is concerning. The tariff wars will hurt him if they drag on too long, especially if the long awaited recession occurs quickly. While he is looking a bit desperate right now, some success in the areas mentioned will go a long way. Then again, more nonsense like the Yemen attack and the support for the Gaza atrocities will hurt him. MAGA wants an end to stupid wars.
