I’m guessing you have never read the Quran. The verses you are referring to are taken completely out of context. you need to read the entire chapter in which those verses appear. If you do that, it is crystal clear it is talking about a very specific situation in which a treaty was violated. Additionally, in the very next verse it mentions that you should relent if your enemy relents.
If you actually care, I can suggest Thomas Cleary’s translation. It’s not a very long book.
