Can everyone please calm the *bleep* down about tariffs?
So, Trump puts up a Truth Social post threatening to retaliate with big tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum, and Ford’s bravado collapses in just 4 hours. This was an entirely predictable outcome for anyone who understands which side has essentially all the leverage in this equation.
HINT: It isn’t Ontario, whose GDP is roughly the size of Pennsylvania’s.

We have the rest of the world to blame for the high dollar as these banana republic countries run to USD for safety. Of course exports are hurting….Too complicated for most that I talk to about it. Myself, I would like some affordable cheese to feed the family with .
It’s all about the CCP influence in all levels of Canadian Government, Cartel activity, Money Laundering of Criminal activity (drugs, humans) and a weak military that can not defend the Arctic from the CCP. The tariff threat is just the heavy threat that can be taken away when we conform. Trump playing chess we are playing……
The US, Canada and Russia would do well to partner to protect the Arctic from Chinese expansion. We have a lot in common.
Canada and Russia have more territory than they can develop and defend. The US needs to have safe reliable partners who can sell resource to them.
Russia and the UK were not exactly the best of friends since the old Imperial times of the 1800’s. Russia sided with the Union while the UK supported the Confederates. After the US Civil War, Russia knew that they were not in good shape to defend their far flung territory
of Alaska from the British and sold it off to their friend the US who could. Russia had extracted much in the way of fur pelts from Alaska by that time. Countries had different priorities at that time. Strange by today’s standards.
The Soviet Union was no one’s friend. Russia is a different entity with much oligarch influence but we can work with them. They don’t want to go back to Communism, likewise for the Eastern Bloc Nations. Look at the former East Germany’s support for the AfD.
Excellent comment Columbia
Echoing FGC’s thoughts Columbia – excellent review!
Canada is in the extremely precarious position wherein what “should” be done has long been ignored and no one was protecting it’s legacy of a once great nation — as such it was easily overwhelmed by the globalist hordes and their deep state mechanism — much damage (and a massive wealth transfer) has been executed over the past decade. If Russia was truly a danger to the world, the US would long ago have established REAL deterrents throughout the Arctic.
The solution you outlined would work IF there was ANYONE that could lead Canada out of this abyss — someone strong enough to uproot the graft and corruption of existing deep state bandits while also disposing of the outside influencers (CCP, Cartels, Globalists) that have established hooks into Canada like parasites!
