Loading ...Time For a National Effort of Renewal
I propose a new national effort of renewal. Either we are a nation based on the of “rule of law” or we aren’t. Every law on the books, both federally and in every state needs to be listed, reviewed and voted on by Congress and or the particular state legislature where it was enacted. This would seem like a momumental task, but in this era of the internet and digitization of everything, I submit that while significant it is not overly burdensome. Once every law has been determined to either stay on the books or be removed as no longer desirable, relevant or applicable, every state attorney general and law enforcement officer needs to pledge that he, she,(or pronounless individual) will enforce every law that remains on the books. This goes for everyone that breaks a law. No free passes for the politically connected, billionaires, family members etc. The final aspect of this project is to remove all laws like the patriot act and numerous others that have been used to violate citizens rights by violating the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The coup de grace. All laws will apply to every citizen equally, NO EXCEPTIONS! If it is good enough for ANY citizen it is good enogh for EVERY citizen. No exemptions for members of Congress or anyone else.
I’ve been “campaigning” for precisely this idea for a decade or so.
Automatic sunset reviews for ALL legislation. Schedule for each review is based on the margin by which bills pass. ACA passed on a mere 2 vote margin, so it comes up for Review or Sunset inside five years. Other bills with near unanimous support might get 20 years before they. Added advantage – slows down work on new legislation.
Your other point is the other platform I put front and center.
I propose removing DOJ from Executive Branch. Direct election of 6 AGs, via nationwide at large voting. Two from each major party. Two NEVER previously aligned with either, on staggered terms. Pluralities of the three votes in each election (three at a time, but separate counts) win the offices. No requirement for majority voting at DOJ to bring cases before grand juries. Each can investigate, limited only by resources. WH can choose one, or pull in their own to guide administration policy. NO SINGLE GATEKEEPER.
Sunsets based on vote margins also means ALL congressional votes matter, not just the swing votes. Deflates the value of fence sitters who seek to sell their votes for pork.
A while back in a previous discussion I said the DOJ should be under the Judiciary overseen by the Supreme Court not the President. Every admin. has used the AJ to do their bidding as opposed to being the “peoples lawyer” striving for actual justice for all.
We need the same up here in Cannuckland but won’t happen until we kick out the commie Prime Minister, Trudope.

Exactly. And why the only eventual resolution is an armed revolt – blood in the streets. No other way, since change (or reversion to the constitution if you wish) would mean those in power would be voting against themselves. Not to mention the special interests and corporate lobby groups that have no intention of relinquishing their power and control. It is the way of the world – armed revolt. True civil war, red against blue.
Of course, this could all be brought to a grinding halt if all Christians would simply refuse to work until government is replaced. The entire economy would grind to a halt in less than 24 hours. But then, today’s Christians are as cowardly as everyone else…

Right. But if you don’t identify the loop holes in what was otherwise a great effort, and put a priority on plugging those the next time, there will be no progress after that revolt.
The time to blueprint fixes is NOW, while we have time to reflect and to give these seeds time to make the rounds and refine them.
Your realistic but troubling scenario may indeed be what happens. I believe there is another possibility. Will leave it at that for now and hope for the best.
