Walked 2k up to London Drugs, this branch is a huge store and often busy. I had not brought the damn muzzle with me but as I approached the store I thought “oh no, they must still have the mandate” as every single person entering and exiting had one on. But no, the sign outside now reads “masks strongly encouraged” so in I walked bare-faced.

I was probably there for 15 min, during which time I’d have seen at least 100 people. It seems hardly anyone here wants their freedom, because out of, say 100 people in the store, I counted 6, myself included, that were not muzzled.

That means given a choice, 94% chose to keep wearing the damn things.

It got even more interesting at the local Choices grocery market. Their signage said “masks strongly recommended for those not fully vaccinated”, and the propaganda ads that are broadcast over their PA system every 5 minutes repeated that message over and over.

I was the only person in the entire store without one on, and I was in there for probably 25 min.

Are there any psychology types out there who would like to weigh in on this? I am curious as to why people continue to wear these things like a security blanket when the governments that they (blindly) trust no longer mandate them.

Is it fear, is it virtue-signalling, or is it “I don’t want to but I don’t want to be the only one not going along with the crowd”?
